Hello everyone!

It took almost 2 months but this is the day when I am proud to present The Karters physics, camera, mechanics, and vehicle behavior! 🥳

In the video below, you can see game mechanics that is friendly to casual players (you can trigger boost anytime during drift) and for hardcore players as well. There's an engine power-reserves system (100% +) that indicates the max speed the vehicle can achieve. This value is not limited so you can drive even at 150% engine power!

My major focus was to make the game very skill-based and controls extremely responsive. I spent countless hours on that and I'm pretty confident you're gonna love it!

This is a huge milestone because from now on I will move back to AI, weapons and online 😉

Feel free to share your feedback and questions! :)

That looks dope, sboczek!
May I ask why you decided to go with the 3 turbo bars design instead of just one?
The reserve system with the percentual is really cool actually. Thanks for your work!

@DarkSlayer @Cianez glad that you like it!
Three separate boost bars are there to present how many boosts you've left to trigger. This system is very casual friendly because you can't miss the boost bar - it will just stay full and the next bar will start loading (so there is no pressure or chance of failure for the beginners). At the same time it is still very important to trigger the boost just in time because only then you will receive extra % in the engine-reserves power and make your vehicle faster.

How the engine-reserves system work : every time you trigger the boost or make a trick-boost-landing you will get small amount of reserves. The % of engine power-reserves indicate % of the maximum vehicle speed. So if you make all three perfect laps you can even go up to 150% of the normal speed - it is not easy but it is very satisfying, and it will be crucial during competition 😉

Also take a closer look on wheels. I spent a lot of time tweaking the effect so you dont need to look on UI anymore to know when to trigger the boost. You can make a boost anytime the wheels are in fire, but the best time to trigger it is when the line is very thin.

Sounds neat. I'd suggest to create a tutorial section in the game so that everyone can familiarize better with the mechanics, especially the new ones.
I didn't see the wheels at first, I believe it's the same system that Crash Nitro Fueled uses, right?

On a side note, have you considered placing the turbo bars horizonatally instead (one on top of the others)? That would take less space on the HUD and I personally think it would be slightly better. (y)

yeah, tutorial will be a must :)

In terms of turbo bars horizontally it will be worth trying before beta with different versions of UI design - good idea :)

Or even better, make players decide how they want it with an option. Things like this never fails to accomodate. ;)
